Compass 2.1.1 Computer Specifications

IMPORTANT! These are the minimum Compass server specifications or configuration requirements only. Your system may require more CPU cores or memory.
NOTE: If the SQL Server and Compass are on the same machine, the memory must be increased by 4GB – 32GB (depending on the version), or you may require additional storage.

(1) If deploying Compass with minimum CPU Cores and Memory – increasing the number of cores, and the amount of memory improves performance and provides a better user experience. Additional memory is recommended for projects with many concurrent users and displays/templates. For example, a project with ten or more users and 100 or more displays/templates may need additional memory and/or cores. (2) The number of supported devices in the Enterprise model can be extended in 1000 device increments by applying one or more device packs at any time (COMPASS-2-ENTDP). When extending beyond 3000 devices the recommended memory amount is strongly advised. When applying multiple device packs, more memory beyond the recommended amount may be required. (3) The web-server (IIS) provided in Windows 10 and Windows 11 (Professional or Enterprise versions) has a limitation of 10 concurrent browser sessions, i.e. total number of browser sessions/tabs open across all logged in users. If there is a requirement to have more than 10 concurrent browser sessions, install Compass on a supported Windows Server OS (Server 2019, or 2022). (4) COMPASS-2-LG, COMPASS-2-XL, and COMPASS-2-ENT licenses: MS-SQL Server Standard / Enterprise editions and Compass must be installed on separate computers. (5) COMPASS-2-SM and COMPASS-2-MD licenses: MS-SQL Server Standard / Enterprise editions and Compass must be installed on separate computers if using Minimum Required Memory. (6) COMPASS-2-XXS, COMPASS-2-XS, and COMPASS-2-SM licenses: MS-SQL Express and Compass can be installed on same machine. (7) SQL Server 2022 Express (64-bit) is provided with Compass 2.1.1.
